2 Months with Makaria Hope

Makaria is 2 months old this week! Time flies when you are taking care of 4 kids, getting very little sleep, writing a very large important PhD paper, fighting off illness in the family every couple of weeks, celebrating Thanksgiving and preparing for Christmas, and having fun! Makaria is a sweet girl who loves her mommy (and daddy), food, the noise of her siblings, and her sleep. It is amazing how much a little person changes in just 2 months! We are especially enjoying her sweet smiles and coos that have shown up in the last week or so.

Emmett received a Butterfly Garden for his birthday and after 4 months we finally ordered the caterpillars. He had been waiting anxiously to "grow" his own butterflies! After only 2 weeks we had 5 Painted Lady Butterflies that he could not wait to take to school for his class to see. He is well on his way to becoming the scientist he has decided he is going to be.
Randall woke up singing for some reason a few mornings ago and I just had to record it (please excuse his apparel or lack there of). He is such a happy little man! Enjoy his very own compilation of "The Appleseed Song," "O. C. Taylor," and "Deep in the Heart of Texas!"
Randall has been enjoying his days with just Mommy. He has kept busy playing with Mommy, swimming with Ellie, Lydia, and Nahum, and going on "field trips" with his friend Kara. He misses the big kids and is excited to play when they get home, but has definitely not been lonely.

| First Day of School |
We survived the first day of school! Randall enjoyed going to coffee with Mommy and Daddy after dropping the big kids off. He seemed to miss them a little and asked after only 45 minutes if we could go and pick them up. He is so easy by himself that Mommy may get spoiled :) He starts what he calls "Potty School" tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Emmett was very excited to finally get to go to kindergarten with Mrs. Poda, just like Caroline did last year. He only had a half day and came home with a note that said he had a great day, a blue dot on his behavior chart (the best color!), and a toy from the treasure chest! Caroline had a long day, 7:45-2:45, in Mrs. Davidson's 1st grade. She was excited to be back at school! Having a desk of her own and "real" school books is something she is quite happy about.
A Little Taste of our Busy Summer...

The "big" kids start school on Monday, which means our summer is officially over. The past 3 months have flown by with a visit from Mala Gail and Papa John, Daddy taking a trip to India while the rest of us visited Redding, a couple of weeks of sharing our house with Aunt Abby, Uncle Nathan, and their girls, a good long trip to Lake Keowee complete with 27 cousins, and finally the birth of a new cousin. Here are a few pictures of our adventures around Grapevine and at Lake Keowee.
